MICA Network has funded MIRARCO project called : “Battery mineral recovery and waste reduction through bioleaching of pyrrhotite tailings” The project will compare 3 competing bioleaching technologies to extract battery minerals, Nickel and Cobalt, from pyrrhotite tailings while also reducing nuisance elements (Fe/S) and eliminating the environmental liabilities associated with these mine wastes.
